Van Buren, Ark. - Former Duncan, Okla. resident, the REV. GILBERT PIXLEY, 86, a Freewill Baptist minister and evangelist of Van Buren, Ark., died Sunday. Sept. 17, 2006, in a Van Buren hospital.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Freewill Baptist Church of Van Buren. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Bearers will be Zachary Burnett, Adam McMellan, Chad Burnett, Lionel Burnett, Curtis Carney and Rex Brown.
His twin brother, Rev. Rupert Pixley, who passed away on Oct. 31, 2004, in Fort Smith, Ark., is also buried at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Son of Benjamin "Ben" and Lou Pixley. He was a minister and evangelist for well over 60 years, in Arkansas, Oklahoma, California, Texas and other states. He pastored nine churches during his career. He sang, taught music schools, and wrote several songs, including a popular one, "My Child, You're Home at Last," which became his epitaph. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Opal; two daughters, Barbara Wilcox of Van Buren, and Donna Nadeau of Concord, N.H; a son, Carlos Pixley of Fort Smith; a sister, Belva Dodd of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ms. Opal Pixley of Van Buren, Arkansas died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at her home in Van Buren. Ms. Pixley was an artist and musician; a member of the 1st Freewill Baptist church of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Ms. Pixley was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. Gilbert Pixley; a son: Timothy Pixley; and her parents.
She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Wilcox, of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Donna Nadeau, of concord, New Hampshire; a son: Carlos Pixley, of fort Smith Arkansas; two brothers: Grover Carney and Paul Carney and his wife: Naomi, all of Rudy Arkansas; 10 wonderful grandchildren; 20 precious great-grandchildren; 1 very special great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at 2:00p.m. at the First Freewill Baptist church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Rev. Jack Richey and R.E. Helsley, officiated the service.
Pallbearers were: Lionel Burnett, Keith Bull, Mark Nadeau, Adam McMellon, Zachary Burnett, and Chad Burnett.
