Jesse Howard, 80 of Fort Smith, Arkansas died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Sparks Selected Speciality in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Howard was born on Monday, December 10, 1928. He was retired from North American Foundry in Fort Smith; a longtime resident of this area; a Military Cook for the U.S. Army, a Veteran of the Korean War; and a member of the American Legion Post 31 in Fort Smith.
Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Howard; his parents; one son; many brothers and sisters; and one granddaughter.
He is survived by two daughters: Ruby Howell of Camden, Arkansas and Barbara Frazier of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one son: Jackie Howard of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters: Geraldine Thompson of New Edinburg, Arkansas and Birdie Burnett of Wilmar, Arkansas; one brother: Barney Howard of New Edinburg, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; thirteen wonderful grandchildren; twenty-one precious great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many good friends.
Funeral service was held at Gacelawn Arborn on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Steve Stewart officiated the service.
Mr. Howard was laid to rest at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Funeral services for Dorothy Ann HOWARD, 74, of Van Buren, Ark., are being held at 10 a.m., Jan. 17, 2002, at Gracelawn Arbor, with burial in Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Mrs. HOWARD died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, in a local hospital. Survivors include her husband, Jess HOWARD; two daughters, Barbara and Ruby; one son, Jackie; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Ben.
