Lorene Margaret Pennington Cagle, age 86, of Hot Springs, died Monday May 7, 2012. She was born on December 22, 1925, the third of nine children, to Rube Pennington and Florence Davis Pennington. On February 4, 1944, she was married to Clarence Odell Cagle. She was preceded in death by her parents; a much beloved daughter, Marcelyn Renee Cagle Tate; two brothers, Cecil Pennington and Lawrence Pennington; and a sister, Elouise Smith. Lorene was a member of Meadow View Missionary Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, who also enjoyed crafts, gardening, flowers and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Odell "C.O." Cagle of Hot Springs; two daughters, Marsha Ann Cagle of Oceanside, California and Sandra Kay Cagle of Hot Springs; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Laurene Pennington, Jerry and Joanne Pennington, and Lon and Faye Pennington, all of Hot Springs; two sisters, Iris Wilson of Pearcy and Jessilee Legg of Jasper, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Elder Gary V. Smith and Bro. Shaun Holland officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Brent Smith, Clay Wilson, Dewayne Pennington, David Pennington, Joshua Pennington, and Jimmie Vann. Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Garner Sears, Randy Yarnold, and the members of Meadow View Missionary Baptist Church. The family expresses special thanks to her medical team and her nighttime confidant, Gayla Golden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis TN 38105 or at their website online. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
