Haze E. Embry, 86 years old long time resident of Crawford County, died Thursday July 25, at the home of a daughter, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Mr. Embry was born March 20, 1877 at Rudy, Arkansas. Living there with his father and mother, Mr. And Mrs. Greene Embry until a young man, he moved to Lane Hill (now New Town). He met and married Henrietta Parham, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Douglass Parham.
They were the parents of six children; of which two lived in Fort Smith, two in New Town and one in Riverside, California, one passed on July 23, 1937.
Mr. Embry owned and operated a large farm. He was a stock owner and cattle raiser. In the early years a gas well was drilled on his farm, it was brought in, a very force able one, and is still in operation. As a Baptist minister he pastured the following churches; St. Matthew Baptist, New Town for 28 years, New Prospect Baptist church, Shibley for 23 years, Zion Baptist at Alma for 18 years and Macedonia Baptist at Alma for eight years. In church district he works he served in many offices.
He was a supporter of the Arkansas Baptist college, individually and collectively. He retired from the ministry November 23, 1957 on the advice of his physician.
His community service was to never be forgotten as he rendered service on the school board of district No 92, now part of Van Buren serving as president of the board for several terms. Worked hard for the consolidation of schools, sleeked and was granted the new U. S. mail route through the community. In fact he put forth every effort to make progress in the community in which he lived, and all who knew him, both white and negro, admired and respected him as a citizen and Christian gentleman.
Survivors are his wife, one son, four daughter, and three son-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and one brother.

Henrietta Embry, was the daughter of Sarah and Douglas Pharham of New Town, Arkansas. She married the late Rev. Haze E. Embry in 1898. To this union twelve children were born of which five survived. She was a member of St. Mathews Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Glasco Wilson since the age of twelve years. She remained a faithful member until her death in 1970.
