Billy Wayne Barker, age 79, of Cabot, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Romance on May 12, 1930 to the late Earl Bradford Barker & Essie D. West Barker.

He is also preceded in death by his wife Elsie Barker; son Gary L. Barker; granddaughter Andrea Barker; one sister Sybil Hughes; and three brothers, Thurman, Ernest & Ray Barker.


He leaves behind to cherish his memory, five sons: Jackie W. Barker (Martha) of Blue Field, West Virginia, Terry D. Barker (Renee) of Sherwood, Dannie E. Barker (Lila) of N. Little Rock, Stephen P. Barker (Gale) of Cabot and Kevin D. Barker (Sheila) of Cabot; two daughters, Billy F. Trammell and Dinah Balentine (Reuben) both of Mtn. View; two brothers, Arvel Barker of Searcy and J.M. Barker of Jacksonville, Florida; 19 Grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; along with several other family members and dear friends.

A time of visitation is scheduled for 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Thomas Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Woodrow Church of Christ in Vilonia. Interment will immediately following at Gray Cemetery in Gravel Hill.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the care staff, nurses, and friends that were there during Billy’s illness, with a very special recognition to Jean Witcher and Robert Lang for their endless time and support.
