Cordelia Wanda (Greer) LaFerney, 91, of Searcy went to be with her Lord, Thursday, September 26th at Unity Health Medical Center. She was born January 28, 1928 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late John and Cozetta (Carter) Greer.

She was a longtime member of Honey Hill Christian Church – known to all as “Miss Wanda.”

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Mary Anne Curkendall (Chris) of Ione, Washington; three grandchildren, Tracy Teauseau (Ross) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kelley Frieze (Randy) of Belleville, Illinois, and Jason Payne of Bartlett, Tennessee; one daughter in law, Debbie Abbott; one brother, Kenneth Greer; seven great grandchildren, and two special nieces, Diana and Darcy Baxley.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert “Bert” LaFerney; one daughter, Nita Abbott and her husband, Roger; and one grandson, Paul Joubert Jones.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, September 28th at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM in the Searcy McEuen Chapel with burial following at Honey Hill Cemetery in Searcy.

Elbert L. "Bert" LaFerney, 88, of Searcy, Arkansas went to his heavenly home on May 31, 2014. He was born to John and Emma LaFerney on August 26, 1925 near Des Arc, Arkansas.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Floy Stevens LaFerney; two sisters, Roberta Loffin and Arline Baxley; and his beloved daughter, Nita LaFerney Abbott.
He is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Wanda Greer LaFerney; one daughter, Mary Anne and husband, Benny Benson of Mt. Home, Arkansas; one son in-law, Roger and wife, Debbie Abbott of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a hoot of friends.
He was in the U.S. Navy from June 1943 to August 1946. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and retired October 1, 1967 as a Tech Sergeant. He also served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Police Action.
He was currently the Senior Pastor at the Honey Hill Christian Union Church where memorials can be made to the building fund.
Visitation will be held on June 4, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on June 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home with burial following at Honey Hill Cemetery.
