Huey Gowen, 86, of Garner, passed away November 30, 2019 at his residence. He was born February 25, 1933 at Garner to the late Edward and Pearl Austin Gowen.
Mr. Gowen attended Garner Public Schools and was a graduate of Beebe High School and attended ASU Beebe as well as Draughon Television and Radio School. He was a devoted citizen of the Garner Community, which he loved dearly. He was the epitome of the family man, he loved his family, grandkids, and most of all the love of his life, Marvell. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his grandkids play.
He married Marvell Adams Gowen June 1, 1957. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2005.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Gowen and Steve Gowen (Chryl) both of Garner; and one daughter, Kelly Vaughan (Chris) of Beebe; five grandchildren, Holly,Kristen, Kyle, Scot, and Jared; as well as seven great grandchildren, Keegan, Riley, Anna Claire, Ty, Sidney, Maddie, and Blakely.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Sullivan Funeral Care. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel with burial following at Garner Cemetery.

Marvell Adams Gowen, age 65 of Garner, died Tuesday in Little Rock. She was born August 21, 1939 at Pangburn to Doc and Sindy Adams. She retired from Eaton after 40 years of service. She was a member of the Garner Missionary Baptist Church where she previously served as Treasurer and was currently serving as Song Director. She was also a member of the WMA (Women's Missionary Auxiliary) and active in the Senior Citizens Program at Garner. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Huey Gowen of Garner; one daughter, Kelly Vaughan and husband Chris of Beebe; two sons, Steve Gowen and wife Chryl of Garner, Mike Gowen and wife Tammy of Searcy; three sisters, Darlene Gentry and Ne'll Shelton of Searcy, Mildred Holland of Bowie, Texas; one brother, Junior Adams of Pangburn; seven grandchildren, Holly Gowen of Fayetteville, Kristen Gowen of Heber Springs, Kyle and Ethan Mashburn of Searcy, Kyle Vaughan of Beebe, Scot and Jared Gowen of Garner. She is preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Sindy Adams; and one sister, Ouida Smith. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Garner Cemetery. The family has requested memorials be made to the Garner Missionary Baptist Church.
