Danny Gattis, 53, of Scranton died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Scranton.
He coached both basketball and track and taught elementary and high school. He received a baseball scholarship from Westark Community College and received his B.S. degree from Grand Canyon Baptist University. He received numerous coaching awards, including Karv Dream Team Coach. He coached junior high basketball from 1983 to 1988 and seventh grade basketball from 1977 to 1991. He taught in the Scranton school system from 1975 to 1999.
Funeral was 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec 21 at First Baptist Church in Paris with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mae Cauthron Gattis; two stepdaughters, Maria Denise Shedrick of Plano, Texas, and Heather Dawn Barton of Dallas; two sisters, Shirley A. Spicer of Scranton and Dale Marr of Fort Smith; one brother, James Paul Gattis of Paris; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were John Holman, Rick Snow, Bob Hamilton, Tony Geels, Brian Bragg, Ron Tencleve, Dr. Nick Jewell and Victor Frye.
