Sarah Christine Brown, age 87, of Jacksonville went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. She was born November 8, 1927 in Jacksonville, Arkansas the daughter of the late Joe Raymond Cole and Sudie Lacy McClendon Cole. Christine was reared and educated in Jacksonville and was a graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. She was a devoted and faithful Christian and active member of Second Baptist Church, where she taught a Ladies Sunday School Class and was a founding member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was best known for her homemade soup and pecan pies which she lovingly gave to others.
Christine was preceded in death by her late husband of 53 years, William Alfred "Brownie" Brown Jr., a brother Robert Cole, four sisters, Billie Crow, Effie Ward, Ruth Grizzle, and Jerry Seaton. She is survived by one son, Charles Ronald Brown (Sandy) of Benton, three daughters, Gloria Ann Maxwell (Tony) of Pine Bluff, Sue Jones (John) of Jacksonville, and Jeannie Swan (Dave) of Kennesaw, Georgia, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 with a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Ron Raines officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl. New York, N.Y. 10001, the American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or the Special Olympics of Arkansas 2115 Main Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114 in memory of Mrs. Brown.
