Viola Bell Cox, 95, of Bigelow died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her home. She was born May 9, 1922 in England, Arkansas to the late Forest M. and Linnie Carr Sims. Mrs. Cox was a member of Wye Mountain Baptist Church in Bigelow and retired from Timex. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny R. Cox; siblings, Lena Davis, Margaret Sims, Mildred Malone, Lois Dardenne, Frances Smith and C.D. Sims and a great granddaughter, Natalie Newberry.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her daughter, Vima Jean Wilhelm and her husband, John of Bigelow; sister, Jean Rouse of Louisiana; four grandchildren, Arthur Newberry, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, Denise Golden and her husband, Ryan, Melinda Wilhelm and John Wilhelm; seven great grandchildren, Krystle Teague and her husband, James, Tommy Ellis, Brooklyn Luck and her husband, Jacob, Arthur Newberry III, Emma McDaniel, Chance Newberry and Seth Rounsaball and two great-great grandchildren, Lily and Carter Teague.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Brother Richard “Dusty” Day officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136. Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Jack Jones, James Teague, Larry Smith, Rick Plummer and Sam Dardenne. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
