Obituary
Meddars Funeral Home
Crossett, Arkansas

Mrs Gladis Daugherty, age 93, of Crossett passed away November 16,
2013 at Ashley County Medical Center. She was born December 22, 1919 to
Jesse and Ethel Slaughter.
Gladis was married to John Phillip Daugherty, on August 6, 1935. She
was known as a loving mother and grandmother. She is remembered by
her children as a strong woman, not only physically but spiritually; who
took pride in the fact that she raised all three of her children to know and love the Lord.
She was a proud member of First United Pentecostal Church. She worked many years for Nunn's Laundry Service along with being a seamstress but, perhaps she was most well known for her produce stand and being a homemaker. In her free time she could be found in her garden tending to her flowers and vegetables or spending time with her many grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two
brothers Thomas Virgil and Curtis Burch, one sister, Hazle Hughling and
one granddaughter.
She is survived by her children John Raymond Daugherty of Bastrop,
Shelia Elizabeth Jones and Jerry Daugherty both of Crossett. She was
also blessed with nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren,
and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 19, at 2:00 PM at First United
Pentecostal Church with Bro. Larry Hickman officiating followed by an
interment in Lacey Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 18, at
5:00 also at First United Pentecostal Church.
