Jewell Ella Nelson Daugherty, age 93 of Benton, Arkansas, formerly of Wilmar, joined her Lord and Saviour on Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born in the Barkada community on September 12, 1920 the daughter of the late Carl and Florence Wright Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Idell Daugherty and one infant sibling. Jewell was a beloved member of the Wilmar community where she retired from Wilmar School District and was a life-long member of Andrews Chapel Methodist Church in the Barkada community. She lived most of her life in the Wilmar Community until she was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder. After her diagnosis, she moved to Benton to be closer to her one and only child, Ronald to receive more specialized treatment.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Daugherty and wife Kaye of Benton; two sisters, Rena May Simmons of Pine Bluff and Helen Rose Ross and husband Carroll of Monticello; one brother, Carl “Buddy” Nelson and wife Louise of Crossett; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 17 at the Andrews Chapel Methodist Church with burial in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
