Lenora Rigsby Roberson was born to the Late Joseph and Elizabeth Rigsby, September 24, 1946, in Chidester, Arkansas. Lenora departed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

At an early age, she confessed her faith in Christ Jesus, accepted salvation, and united with Good Hope A.M.E. Church in Chidester. After marriage, she joined St. James A.M.E. Church. She was active in various organizations of the church including: Steward Board, Women’s Missionary Society, Stewardess, Family Choir, Sunday School, and Pastor’s Aide.

She attended Pleasant Hill High School in the Chidester School System. She continued her education at Shorter College (1965-1966), Philander Smith College (1967-1968 B.A. Degree), and Ouachita Baptist University (1982, Master of Science Degree). While at Philander Smith College, she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and she was awarded a plaque for becoming a Fifty Year Member (Zeta Dove) of the sorority. She received a choir scholarship to Shorter and Philander Smith College. She received a choir Certificate of Excellent Performance from Philander.

Lenora was a dedicated community servant. She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, National Education Association, Retired Teachers’ Association, Outstanding Women of Distinction, Inc. in Southern Arkansas, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Lenora was employed with the Warren School District and the Camden Fairview School District where she retired after 30 years of service, and at the Adult Education Center.

She was preceded in death by Lawrence, her devoted husband for 42 years; her parents; and three siblings, Linwood Rigsby, Joseph Rigsby Jr. and Etta Robinson.

Lenora leaves to cherish her life and legacy to her loving and devoted daughter, Christi Beavers (Karl); one granddaughter, Sydney; two grandsons, Braxton and Preston of Little Rock, Arkansas; four sisters, Earnestine Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Mamie Irvine of Chicago, Illinois, Maggielene Davis-Cowles of Chicago and Lajetta Flowers of Chicago; two sister-in-laws Nettie Rigsby, of Fountain, Colorado and Pearline Roberson of Tempe, Arizona and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday April 7, at St. James AME with Dr. C.D. Stuart, eulogist. Interment will be held at Eternal Rest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. Friday, April 6, and a wake from 5-6 p.m. at Reddick Funeral Home.
