ASHLAND, Mo. - Janet Howard Guthrie, 92, of Ashland, Mo., formerly of the Smithville area, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008.

She was born Jan. 23, 1916, at Grange, the daughter of Holly Jackson and Aurora Magnolia Cristenberry Howard. She was united in marriage to Everett Guthrie in 1936 at Powhatan. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1974.

Ms. Guthrie was a homemaker and member of Seventh Street Baptist Church in Memphis.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy and son-in-law, William Warke of Jonesboro, and Mary Jo and son-in-law, Patrick Daughterty of Hartsburg, Mo.; three brothers, Harry Howard of Cave City, Sanford Howard of North Carolina and Joseph Howard of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Marie Wallace of Little Rock and Emily Sue Mauldin; and two granddaughters, Shannon and Susan.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Higginbotham Chapel in Walnut Ridge with burial to follow in Lancaster Cemetery near Strawberry under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service Inc. in Walnut Ridge.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.
