Mrs. Violet C. (Bennett) Sanford, 85, of Bradford, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at her home. She was born January 26, 1928 in Leachville, Arkansas, the daughter of James Marion and Dessie Lorene (Melton) Bennett. She married Mr. William Franklin "Frank" Sanford on September 29, 1945.
Mrs. Sanford was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Bradford. She worked in the Bradford School cafeteria for 11 years and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening; and especially loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Sanford was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; one granddaughter, Lorie Sanford; one great-grandson, Christopher Bryant, Jr.; one great-great-grandchild, Logan Bryant; two brothers, Leon Bennett and Billy Joe Bennett; and one sister, Norma Jean Littleton.
She is survived by two sons, Robert "Bobby" Sanford and wife Lynda and Ronnie Dale Sanford and wife Ruby, all of Bradford; three daughters, Shirley Ann Bryant and husband Gale, Linda Carolyn Pierce and husband Ronnie, and Connie Lynn Harvey and husband Kenny, all of Bradford; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Hickman Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday, 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Don Free, Robbie Free, Randy Littleton, Jimmy Bennett, Tommy Sanford, and Arnold Sanford. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Pierce, Shane Harvey, Brandon Sanford, Matt Sanford, Chris Bryant, Conrad Bryant, and Calvin Perry.
