GRAVETTE — Glenn Wallace Whitney, 83, of Gravette, died Nov. 18 at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. He was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Manhattan, Kan., to Clyde Archer Whitney and Faye Elizabeth Fairbanks Whitney.

He married Virginia Joyce Shatswell March 1, 1969, and moved to area in 1971 to make their home. He worked for Tyson Foods (Garrett Plant in Rogers) as a wastewater supervisor for 27 years. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Whitney; two brothers, Stephen and Frances Whitney.

Survivors are two sons, Robert Whitney (Gail) of Garfield, David Whitney (Shelly) of Elkins; three daughters, Joanna Carden (Jerry) of Jacket, Mo., Barbara Henson (Cecil) of Pineville, Mo., Denice Whitney of Centerton; a brother, James Whitney; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge. Burial will be in Pea Ridge Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard Walker Hospice, 325 E. Longview Street, Fayetteville, Ark. 72703.

GRAVETTE — Virginia Joyce Whitney, 78, of Gravette died July 12, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Redrock, Ark., to Wilburn Eugene Shatswell and Dorothy Smith Shatswell.

She married Glen Whitney on March 1, 1969, and moved to the area in 1971 to make her home.

She worked as a line supervisor for Tyson Foods in Rogers for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, being with her grandchildren and attended Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Bentonville. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Glen Whitney of the home; two sons, Robert Whitney (Gail) of Garfield, David Whitney (Shelly) of Elkins; three daughters, Joanna Carden (Jerry) of Jacket, Mo., Barbara Henson (Cecil) of Pineville, Mo., Denice Whitney of Centerton; three sisters, Anna Bell Gurney of Grandview, Mo., Diania Pettit of Desota, Kan., Myrtle Briggs Talequeh, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
