Juanita Hays went to meet her Lord Tuesday afternoon - just days away from her ninety-first birthday. So she'll celebrate that birthday in Heaven. Juanita was a life-long resident of Searcy and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband JB Hays. Her parents were Bun and Erkle Benton.
Juanita is survived by her daughters Phyllis Rose and her husband Bill of Conway, and Martha Jo Burwell and her husband Charlie of Fort Worth, Texas. Granddaughters include Kim Rose, Angie Burwell Kerr, and Amy Sweek; she will meet her other granddaughter Vicky Bundy in Heaven. Great grandchildren are Cole Bundy, Caleb Bundy, Sydney Sweek, and Jonathan Sweek. Juanita's two surviving sisters are Donna Wilburn and Dyann Bobbitt. And a special neighbor, caregiver and walking partner, Linda Dorris, helped make late-in-life stress a little more comfortable.
Asking anyone who knew Juanita what her passions were is easy - she loved to cook, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her church. Whether cooking for family, friends, or fellowships at church, she loved preparing new recipes, modifying old ones, and seeing happy eaters. Her grandkids were always a joy and brought smiles and laughter when she could see them. They all helped her celebrate her ninetieth birthday last year. Over the years, she rarely missed a service at her church and was among the longest serving members.
Funeral arrangements by Roller-Daniel. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM at the funeral home on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Services will be at First Baptist Church Friday morning at 10:30.
Interment will follow at White County Memorial Gardens.
