T. Wayne Walker, 70, of Benton died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009. He was born July 30, 1939, to William H. Walker, Sr. and Iola House Walker. Mr. Walker served in the Navy after graduating high school at Pine Bluff, then worked as an insurance agent for 26 years. His clients esteemed him for his honesty and integrity. He was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff where he was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School class and served as chairman of the Staff/Parish Relations Committee. He enjoyed various activities over the years, including hunting, model railroading, and flying radio controlled airplanes he had built. He was an accomplished woodworker who had made many pieces of furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Walden Walker; a son, Christopher W. Walker; a sister., Nancy Garner and husband James of Texarkana; a brother, William H. Walker, Jr. and wife Julie of Vilonia; a niece, Brenda Cross of Fouke; and a nephew, Tommy Garner of Texarkana. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Burial will be in New Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
