Nina Louise Stroud Tucker, age 94, of Searcy died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in Searcy. She was born April 3, 1912 in Pangburn, Arkansas to L.M. and Marga Roan Crook. She was a member of AARP, Associated Women of Harding and the Downtown Church of Christ where she was known for the hospitality she showed her church family. In the late thirties, she taught elementary school and then later worked in various sales positions in Cleburne and Woodruff Counties and in El Paso, Texas. Throughout her life, her greatest pleasure came as she worked continually for the care and betterment of her family who greatly loved, respected and appreciated her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two husbands, Everett Stroud and Orville Tucker; a sister, Lorene Hughes; a brother, Leo Crook; two nephews, Louis Crook, Jr. and Fred Crook.
She is survived by two sisters, Lora Sowell and Loyce Childers and one brother, Louis Crook all of Searcy; nieces, Elizabeth Ann Edwards of Higden, Arlene Morris of Montgomery, Alabama, Betty Mote and Nancy Hatfield of Searcy, Paula Sue Mardis of Hollister, Florida, Nina Lou Crook of Little Rock, and one nephew, Mickey Crook of Jackson, Tennessee. She is also survived by Orville Tucker's family: Jerry and Carolyn Tucker, Lanny Tucker, Lori VanDer Kamp, Casey Tucker, Paula Halley all of Portland, Oregon, and Dave Halley of Seattle, Washington, Matt Halley of Austin, Texas and five great granddaughters.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 27 at 10:00 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am at Roller Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at White County Memorial Gardens.
To honor Louise Tucker, memorials may be made to PUMP Church of Christ, P.O. Box 11510, Portland, Oregon 97211. This is an outreach effort in the Portland area ministering to the urban poor. Gifts may also be made to a Louise Tucker Nursing Scholarship Fund in care of Dr. Cathleen Shultz Harding University College of Nursing, P.O. Box 12265, Searcy, Arkansas 72149.
