Evelyn Cater, age 78 of Monticello, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at Belle View Nursing & Rehab Facility in Monticello. She was born May 1, 1938 in California to the late Gus and Evelyn Slutter Wiebenga.

She was widow of Charles (Chuck) Cater, was a nurse for many years, did private care for the Trotters, which is now the The Trotter House, was also employed at the Drew County Courthouse and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Cater loved spending time with her family at get-togethers and playing with her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wiebenga.

She is survived by one son, Ricky Cater and wife Chris of Monticello; one grandson Nick Cater and wife Jenna of Monticello; one very special great-grandson, Gage Cater; one sister, Patty Davis of Eugene, OR; two brothers Gus Wiebenga of Monticello and John Wiebenga and wife Donna of Salem, OR; and two special friends Betty Norton and Peggy Williams.

Charles L. “Chuck” Cater, age 76 of Monticello passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. Born March 21, 1937 in Drew County, AR he was the son of the late William Cal Cater and Rosie Rozell Barnett Cater.

He was a retired criminal investigator, a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Cater was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved country and western music. He played in several country and western bands where he played the guitar and sang.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Wiebenga Cater of Monticello; one son, Ricky Lamar Cater and wife Chris of Monticello; one brother, Roland D. Cater of Harrison; one sister, Alice Cater Wolfe and husband Melvin of Harrison; his grandson, Nicklos Jason Cater and wife Jenna of Monticello; and his very special great grandson, Gage Forrest Cater.
