Jane
October 28, 1945 - August 15, 2017
Married: November 27, 1964
Jane Cecelia Ivy Davis left this earth on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 to go to her heavenly home. She was born October 28, 1945 in Staten Island, New York, to Sterling Ginn Ivy, Sr. and Lucille Mae Wilcken Ivy.
Jane's family moved from New York to Hampton, AR in 1954, where she attended school and graduated in 1963. She attended Southern State (SAU) in Magnolia for one year.
After marrying Jerry, and moving to El Dorado, she worked for Murphy Oil, Ace Contractors, Tosco and Evers Electric as office manager for 29 years.
Jane has been a member of West Side Baptist Church since 1969 and gave her life to Jesus. She taught 5-year-old Sunday School Class for 8 years, and also worked in GA's and Awana. She enjoyed the Awana program, and watching children recite Bible verses. In the Adult Classes, she served as secretary and outreach leader. Since retirement, she joined several Bible studies in the community and enjoyed each one, never tired of learning more about our Lord and enjoyed being with others who loved the Lord.
She was active in her children's activities, always there to support the team but she enjoyed being involved in scouting most. For two years, she picked up a carload of little boys and carried them to a co-leader's home for Cub Scouts. She loved those boys as her own. During this time, she had the opportunity to spend a week at Philmont, a Boy Scout training camp in New Mexico, and came home and helped others be equipped in the scouting program.
Jane delighted in telling others about Jesus and planted seeds when she met others. One of her favorite Bible verses was Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart". Her desire was that her children and grandchildren would fall in love with Jesus and all the people she was associated with as well.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother; Lucille Mae Wilcken Ivy of El Dorado; husband, Thomas Jerry Davis, whom she married November 27, 1964; one son, William Scott Davis and one daughter, Jeri Lyn Davis Lee, Both of El Dorado; three grandsons, Tyler Davis and wife Whitney of Norphlet, Jordan Lee of Little Rock and Josh Lee of El Dorado; granddaughter, Brooklyn Bolin of El Dorado; brother, John Frederick Ivy of Conway; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of cousins; and special friends, LaVerne Midyett, Emily Evers, Bernie Husbands, Nancy Davis, and Cynthia Primm.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry L. Ivy, Georgia Primm, William F. Wilcken and Cecelia Miller Wilcken; her father; beloved brother, Sterling Ginn Ivy, Jr.; and stillborn infant daughter, Jennifer Leigh Davis.
Services will be held at West Side Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday with Ed Midyett and Gary Don Taylor leading. Interment will follow at Earnest Cemetery, Calhoun County, Arkansas.
