Aug 8, 1921 - May 2, 2016
Mrs. Trilbie Brown, 94, of Gosnell, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 in the home of her daughter with whom she had made her home for many years. Trilbie Estelle Bishop Brown was born August 8, 1921 in Dell. She was the daughter of Jack Bishop and Stella Mae Coleman Bishop. She married Jett Brown on November 20, 1937 at Half Moon in the home of the Justice of the Peace. The couple made their home at Half Moon until Mr. Brown was inducted into the US Army during WWII. Following his discharge, the Brown's settled in Gosnell. Mrs. Brown opened and operated the Air Way Upholstery Shop in Gosnell for a number of years. As a showcase for her expertise in the upholstery field, she taught an upholstery class at Mississippi County Community College. After closing her business, Mrs. Brown worked in the lunchroom program at the Gosnell School District until she retired. She was an active member of the Gosnell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered for any project where her time and talents were needed as long as health permitted. Through her many talents and abilities and guided by her wit, faith, and common sense she excelled most of all in being a good friend, mentor and model of dedication and faithfulness. She set an example for all who knew her. As a tribute to the love and encouragement demonstrated by this extraordinary woman, Judge Randy Carney declared August 8, 2011 as Trilbie Estelle Bishop Brown Day throughout Mississippi County. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Margaret Cohea of Yuma, Arizona; and brother, Frank Bishop of El Paso, Texas. Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Koonce of Gosnell and Donna Gail Kemper and husband, David, of Blytheville; three grandchildren, Gina Harrington of Jonesboro, Craig Harrington of Gosnell and Dustin Kemper of Blytheville; one sister, Hazel Bishop Smith of Monroe City, Missouri; one brother, Jack Bishop and wife, Shirley, of Torrence, California; several nieces and nephews and extended family, Jennifer Marcello and sons, Christopher, Justin and Taylor. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4th at 3:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
