Fred J. Alexander, 80, most recently of Corpus Christi, Texas, arrived in his heavenly home on January 25, 2016. A lifelong follower of Christ, he was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, widely-respected educator and someone who could pretty much teach himself how to do just about anything he committed to in life.

Fred was born May 14, 1935, near Buck Creek, Texas to the late Emory Clyde and Ellen Matilda “Tillie” Branum Alexander. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Alexander Earle and brother, Ruel Wade Alexander, in addition to his wife, Claudette Harris Alexander.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Alexander; his and Claudette’s children, Joe Alexander, Beverly Burcham, and Denise Runk; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the College Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Kurt Alexander, Brandon Burcham, Larry Branum, Russ Burcham, Jr., Jack Harris, Alex Runk, David Runk, Dwight Smith, and Jack Young. Open visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. immediately preceding the service.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Claudette Harris Alexander Endowed Fund for Children’s Literature at Harding University or the American Heart Association.
