Jesse "Jay" Lewis Smith husband of Patricia Ann (Guthrie) Smith. Jesse "Jay" Lewis Smith son of Jesse Lee Smith and Gertrude Hawkins Smith.

Jesse "Jay" Lewis Smith, age 72 of Pleasant Plains, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at his residence. He was born on July 26, 1935 in Tyronza, Arkansas to Jesse Lee and Gertrude Hawkins Smith.

Jay was a retired truck driver for Conley trucking, and a lifetime resident of Pleasant Plains, who attended Cornerstone Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Pat, parents, son, Kenneth, brother, and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca, four sons, Jesse Smith, Billy Smith, Ronnie Smith, and Donnie Smith; one daughter, Patti Roark, and a step-daughter, Amy King all of Pleasant Plains, a sister Geneva Sills of Cherryville, Indiana, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and two daughter in laws, Pam and Lavonda, and one son in law David.

Services will be Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Service Chapel with Steve Long officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mc Mullin Cemetery in Pleasant Plains with Kevin Gilbert, Roland Gilbert, Mark Carpenter, Ethan Carpenter, Noal Stanford, and Gaylord Freeman as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday, March 21, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Service in Batesville.
