Life’s journey for Thomas Briscoe Taylor ended Dec. 16, 2014 at UAMS in Little Rock.
He was born Sept. 27, 1942 to Jewel Marie Howarton-Taylor and Thomas Briscoe Taylor Sr. in Forrest City. He attended elementary and high school in the Marianna School District and a couple of years at Subiaco. He attended college at Arkansas Tech at Russellville and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
He was a lab technician for Mohawk Tire Co. until it closed. He later attended classes at Phillips Community College and found a niche in their data processing department. He was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa and graduated with an Associate in Applied Science in May 1981.
He wrote computer programs and taught part-time on and off campus. Follett College Stores employed Tom as manager of the PC bookstore employed until he retired. He maintained a continuous fascination with technology, building computers and testing new programs for various companies.
Tom was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lea Taylor, his parents, his sisters, Dorothy Webb and Mary Jean Calaway, his brother, Dickey Taylor, his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Webb and Carl Calaway and two nephews, Buddy and Eddie Webb.
He leaves his wife, Mary Ann Deleo-Taylor; children, Deborah Taylor of Helena, Thomas B. Taylor of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Howard (Joe) of Hendersonville, Tenn., Rachel Henry (Chris) of Little Rock, Kristin Patton (Martin) of Mayflower; grandchildren, Rylan Jacob Henry, Keaton Douglas Patton, Elisabeth Jewel Patton, Joshua Thomas Howard and Ava Grace Howard; step grandchildren, Jacob, Lily and Joey Howard; a nephew, many nieces and great nephews and nieces.
A Christmas mass and burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Helena on Dec. 20, preceded by visitation and rosary. He was buried in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s, the Humane Society, or charity of choice.
