Ruth Imogene Galloway Taylor, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 in a local nursing home. She lived a happy and healthy life for more than 104 years and 6 months, most of it in Crawford and Sebastian counties. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted N Taylor, Sr and daughter Suzanne Hill. Ruth was born in Alma, Arkansas August 26, 1907 to Dr Q R and Mary Susan Bushmiaer Galloway. Her mother's family, the Bushmiaers and Kiblers, came from Germany and pioneered the Kibler area. Her father a country medical doctor who practiced throughout Crawford County for 56 years taught her to drive at a young age where she assisted him in his house calls. She graduated from Alma High School as the Salutatorian in 1924 and attended Henderson Brown College. Later while living in Van Buren, Arkansas she married Ted, a young attorney from Van Buren. In the 1920's they lived in California where Ruth acted in some early movies. They returned to Arkansas during the depression. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Uplifters Sunday School Class, Pace Setters, Member of Deborah Circle, Ray Bakers Angel Club, Eastern Star, Methodist Village Note Blenders, and the Methodist Nursing Home Board. She loved her family unconditionally and will be remembered as a beautiful lady with countless friends. She was one of the most positive and optimistic ladies one would ever meet, never complaining and always happy. Her tremendous inner strength, a solid faith and love of God was constant. Even after her 104th birthday she was walking, visiting, and cheering up the "old Folks" in the halls of Methodist N.H. Each day was her opportunity to care for and help others. She was someone to easily laugh and joke with and everyone she ever met was considered her friend. We celebrate her long and bountiful life, and continue to love and honor her as she touched each of our lives in so many different ways.
