Obituary
Mr. James Ellis "Red" Taylor of Van Buren, Arkansas was born December 26, 1932 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Summit Medical Center in Van Buren. He was a retired Van Burn Fire Chief with 21 years of service. He also worked at CAPCO and United Refrigeration Services. He was a member of Liberty Fellowship for many years.
Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Ella Taylor; two sisters: Lottie Bowman and Lila Dart; a brother: William Taylor; a daughter: Donna Kay Sandlin; a grandson and a great-grandson.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his devoted wife: Gurtie L. Taylor, of 57 years; six daughters and two sons: Janice and Steve Hagler of Watts, OK, JoAnn Morgan of Atlanta, GA, Wanda and Roger Gragg, Linda and Kenny Marston, Patsy and Kerry Ellifritz, James Taylor, Jr. all of Van Buren, Arkansas, Diane and Calvin Crims of Mountainburg, AR, and Dennis and Shelly Taylor of Lavaca, Arkansas; 18 precious grandchildren and 13 wonderful great-grandchildren; a brother: Jay Taylor of Mountainburg, AR; three step-brothers: Bobby Seward and Timmy Seward both of Dover, AR and Tommy Seward of Tennessee; one sister: Edna Burgess of Van Buren, Arkansas; other family relatives; and many good friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. in the Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Taylor was laid to rest at Gill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Dennis Taylor, Leslie Stephenson, Gary Meadows, Gary Huffman, Ben Jones, Dennis Gilstrap, Bobby Gilstrap, and Butch Trent.
Honorary pallbearers were: the Van Buren Fire Department.
