When Oscar Thomas Owens was born on September 5, 1886, in Decatur, Alabama, his father, George, was 35 and his mother, Luyzia, was 31. He had three sons and two daughters with Nina Edna Thompson Owens Coburn between 1902 and 1920. He died in June 1971 in De Witt, Arkansas, at the age of 84, and was buried there.
