Myrtle Evelyn Davis, 90, of Conway passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

She was born in Nogo (Pope County), Arkansas on April 28, 1927, to George Millsaps and Alta Cossey Millsaps. She recalled with fond memories her early years spent in a dogtrot cabin sleeping in the breezeway during the hot summers. On January 1, 1946, she married Aubrey Arliss (A.A.) Davis. Determined to provide a better life for their children, she and A.A. moved to California with their two young sons with the goal of saving money and having their own business. Myrtle was the driving force behind their success and the family eventually settled in Morrilton where they owned and operated grocery, clothing, furniture and shoe stores including Davis Bargain City and Davis Grocery.

Myrtle had to stop school in the 8th grade, but she knew the value of education and her hard work afforded her children and grandchildren opportunities she was not given. When she was in her 60s, she took the initiative to go back to school and completed her GED. She leaves a legacy of faith passed down to her children and grandchildren.

A description written by her friend perfectly describes our mother and grandmother. 'Ms. Myrtle is one of the strongest ladies I have known. She lives by example and loves unconditionally. She is honest enough to tell you the truth even when you don't want to hear it, and always there with open arms and a saint's prayers. Her giving spirit shining daily as she shares her flowers, produce and talents. She does not back down from a challenge life throws her way, but stands ready to face each one.'

She is survived by her two sons, A. Dewayne (Sharon) Davis of Edwards, CO, and Kenneth Davis of Portland, OR, her four grandchildren, Andrew (Kristi) Davis of Little Rock, Justin Davis of Colorado Springs, CO, Brandon Davis of San Diego, CA and Whitney (Kyle) Green of Alamosa, CO, as well as six great-grandchildren. She also loved her friend Carol McBride and considered she and her husband Donald as her own children.

The family would like to thank the staff at Salem Place for the love and care they provided.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 2, at Faith Church located at 1655 Middle Road in Conway, 72032. A time of visitation will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Church.
