O D Lewis, Jr, 82, of Russellville, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. He was born June 14, 1930, at Dover to Omen Dow and Lena Mae Burnett Lewis. He was a pressman and a bus mechanic for Russellville School District, a United States Army veteran and a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. He wrote and recorded many songs and sang and played the guitar in the Russellville area for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Helen Louise Lewis, and 2 sisters, Pauline Taylor and Blanche Jones. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Pam Duvall of Russellville; 3 brothers, R C Lewis of Russellville, Charlie Lewis of Dover, and Tom Lewis of Russellville; 4 sisters, Pawnee Winters of Dover, Beatrice Jackson of Russellville, Janea Faulkner of Dover, and Arlene Simpson of Russellville; and 2 grandchildren, Dalton Duvall and his wife, Megan, and Emily Duvall. Active pallbearers were Jackie Heflin, Doug Taylor, Danny Taylor, Jim Bob Jackson, David L Simpson and Kevin Kukuk. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Winters, Boyce Jones, Jamie Jackson, Brian Faulkner, Darin Lewis, Andrew Simpson and Quinton Lewis. Helen Louise Lewis, 81, a resident of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.She was born January 9, 1930, in the Pea Ridge community north of Atkins to Claud Dwight and Sarah Elizabeth Duvall Chronister. She was a member of The Refuge Church, took care of children in her home for more than 50 years and loved to cook and spoil her two grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Chronister; and sister, Norm Heflin.She is survived by her husband of 57 years, O D Lewis, Jr of Russellville; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Pam Duvall of Russellville; 2 brothers, Don and Jimmy Dale Chronister, both of Atkins; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and J T Robertson of Russellville; 2 grandchildren, Dalton and Emily Duvall, both of Russellville; and many nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to The Refuge Church, 126 Walleye Drive, Russellville, Arkansas 72802.
