Billy Jefferson Banks the son of Andrew Jefferson Banks and Maudie (Hulsey) Banks. Mary Lee (Winkle) Banks the daughter of Penny Ellis Winkle and Ollie (Arnold) Winkle.

Billy Jefferson Banks, 75, of Mount Pleasant passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006 in Batesville. He was born on Tuesday, October 7, 1930 in Guion, Arkansas and was the son of Andrew Jefferson Banks and Maudie (Hulsey) Banks.

He was a welder and mechanic. Billy worked for 18 years for Arkansas Lime, 10 years for Unimon (formerly Silicus), and also worked for Jones of Locust Grove, Darrin Trammell, also of Locust Grove and Heather Banks of Mount Pleasant.

Other survivors include his brother, Jack Banks of Mount Pleasant and two sisters: Bonnie Loedings of Oak Grove, Missouri and Vida Tate of Gid, Arkansas.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lola Edington and his brothers, Henry Banks, Herbert Banks, and Freshour Construction Company.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also welding and working on small engines in his shop. He was a Christian.

Billy is survived by his wife, Mary Lee (Winkle) Banks of the home; one son, Billy Banks, Jr. of Mount Pleasant; and one daughter, Linda Banks Trammell of Locust Grove. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Tiffany Trammell Barney Banks, and an infant brother, Sherman Banks.

Mary Lee Banks age 70 of Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday September 12, 2008 at her home. She was born on Sunday, December 26, 1937 to Penny Ellis and Ollie (Arnold) Winkle in Mt. Pleasant.

She was a very orderly person and love to talk on the phone with her friends and family. Her family was very important to her and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything else. She also loved her grandchildren's dogs Rufus, Rascal and Gidget. She was a homemaker and was a Christian.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Banks; two brothers Gene Winkle and A.W. "Red" Winkle; one sister Margie Winkle; one half brother and sister Wilson Winkle and Wilma Lacey.

Survivors include one son, Billy Banks, Jr. of Mount Pleasant; and one daughter and son in law Linda Banks Trammell and Darrell of Locust Grove and Charles Winkle she raised as her son. She is also survived by his four grandchildren: Tiffany Trammell-Jones and husband Andy of Locust Grove, Darrin Trammell, also of Locust Grove, Heather Banks of Batesville and Mical Winkle of Oklahoma; one great-grandchild Madison Childress of Batesville. Other survivors include her sister, Barbara Landry of Louisiana; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 14, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roller Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with Bro. Larry Sellers officiating.

Interment will follow at the Barren Fork Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Darrin Trammell, Andy Jones, Rusty Tate, Paul Winifred Winkle, Sherman Banks and Jason Banks.
