Samaki JahDesel Malachi Rodgers, 10, of El Dorado, transitioned to his new home on Tuesday,April 3,2018 at Arkansas Children ‘s Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born on Sept. 14, 2007 in El Dorado to James Rodgers and Trisha Gill Rodgers . He was a member of First Assembly of God. He attended Yocum Elementary then later Hugh Goodwin Elementary where he was adored by his 3rd grade class.
Samaki never met a stranger. Whenever he entered a room, his presence commanded attention.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother: Doris Ann Rodgers; great grandmothers: Carrie Kendrix Buggs and Catherine Reynolds; great grandfathers: Murphy Henry, Frank Reynolds and J.C.Henry.
Survivors are: James and Trisha Gill Rodgers of El Dorado;(3) sisters: Imperial Gill, Salonge James and Chryshaara Lovette of El Dorado;(2) brothers: Chrishon Gill of El Dorado and Zacoby Miller of Camden; grandparents: Johnny Gill, Effie C.Spivey Craig and James Rodgers Jr. of El Dorado, Myrtis Rodgers of Hot Springs and Ruby Kendrix of Urbana; great-grandparents: Florence Heut and John Gill of El Dorado.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturdayat First Assembly of God with the Rev. Chris Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home. Public viewing will be 1 to 5 p.m. today y and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Andrews Funeral Home.
