Nellie Hampton, 97, of Paris, Arkansas died
Friday, January 6, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was
born October 7, 1914 in Paris to Jesse and Maude Lee Hackler Carter. Nellie was a homemaker, retired beautician and owner of Paris House of Beauty, and had worked in the Paris school system's cafeteria. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Paris where she was
active in the mission programs and helped to prepare meals for many functions at the church. Gardening, canning and cooking were her favorite hobbies and she generously shared these labors of love with her family and friends. After
walking became difficult for her, she enjoyed Christian programs and gospel music on television.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
Jesse and Maude Lee Carter; her husband, Jack Hampton; daughter, Betty Ross and sister, Ocie Reames.
She is survived by one daughter, Anna LaRue Martin of Paris; three sons, David and wife Damaris , Charles and wife Tommie and Jim and
wife Glenda all of Paris; ten grandsons, Mike, Thad, Eric, Matt, Heath, Tim and Blake Hampton, Jimmy Don and Craig Martin and, Kevin Chow; five granddaughters, Kady and Kristal Hampton, Kecia Berry, Mitzie Hicks and Rebecca McCombs and
twenty-nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Mike, Eric, Thad, Matt, Heath, Tim and Blake Hampton, Jimmy and Craig Martin and Kevin Chow.
