Florene Hicks Johnson, 82, of Star City died Wednesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

She was born April 9, 1927 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late John and Virgie Cato Hicks.

She was a retired nursing assistant and a member of Pine Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Star City.

Also preceding her in death was her husband Cannon Johnson; brother, Curtis Hicks; and sisters, Mary Phillips, Nell Jackson, Irene Hunter.

Survivors include 7 sons, James Wooten and wife Gail of Lake Village, Jessie Wooten and wife "Beverly" of Pine Bluff, Lonnie Johnson and wife Melissa of Star City, John Johnson and wife Sharon of Pine Bluff, Wayne Johnson and wife Lana of Lake Village, Steve Johnson and wife Janet of Pine Bluff, Roger Johnson and wife Annette of Hot Springs; 6 daughters, Christine Vilches and husband Thomas of Star City, Mary Ann Bolen and husband David of Pine Bluff, Sue Dixon and husband Leon of Star City, Linda Smith and husband Pete of Watson Chapel, Connie Asbury and husband Charlie of Star City, Irene Fletcher and husband Homer of Sheridan; 32 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Bro. Tim McDaniels and Bro. Earl Jenkins will officiate. Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Burial will be in O'Neel Cemetery.


The family will be at the home of Florene Johnson, 1077 Armstead Road, Star City.
