Funeral services for Silas H. Hindman, 44, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Maul Community Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Red Hill Cemetery near Chidester. Hindman, who lived at 2400 Chidester Road, was killed in an accident at the International Paper Company at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday. He was a member of the Maul Community Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and church treasurer. He was a veteran of World War II, during which he received the Purple Heart. He was active in the Boys Club and coach of the Little League for eight years and T-shirt League for two years. Employed by IPCo for 20 years, Hindman was a lifelong resident of Ouachita County. The son of R. H. and Emma Parker Hindman, he was born at Red Hill near Chidester. He is survived by his wife, Pat Robertson Hindman, one son, Bob; three daughters, Becky, Terri and Lisa; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Vincent of Bearden; Mrs. Johnny Barton, Gurdon; Mrs. Opal Matcham, Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Elsa Merritt, of Camden.
