Betty Sue Browning Jones, 90, of Connersville, Ind., joined her husband, James J. Jones, in Heaven Monday morning, May 26, 2014, at Heritage House of Connersville.
Betty was born in Conway on Oct. 5, 1923, to Arie Martin and Blanche Biggs Browning.
She was a graduate of Greenbrier High School where she played on the girls basketball team and was a great athlete and sports fan all her life. Betty and her husband, James, were united in marriage on Aug. 12, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark. They resided in San Benito, Texas, and moved to Joliet, Ill., in 1958. Upon her husband's retirement they relocated to Connersville in 1983 to be near their family. She really enjoyed watching her grandsons and great-grandchildren participate in their athletic events. She was a lover of country music and enjoyed playing the piano. Betty and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively with their daughter and son-in-law.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her faith and family were the most important things in her life. She was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Girot Sr.; three grandsons: James Girot Jr. and wife, Angie, Daniel Girot and fiancée, Amanda Briscoe, all of Connersville, and David Girot and wife, Christine, of Fishers; four great-grandchildren, Jimmy Girot III of Fortville, Samantha Girot of Connersville, Connor Girot and Sarah Girot of Fishers; siblings: Ruel Wayne Browning and wife, Charlene, of North Little Rock, Ark., William Richard Browning of Benton, Ark., Donna Plaughter of Joliet, Ill., Ruby Nell and husband, Verlon Pallmer, of Greenbrier, and Kay Bush and husband, Bobby, of Greenbrier; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Magoline and John Dobbs of Sallisaw, Okla.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband, of almost 70 years, Betty was preceded in death by her sister-in-law; Shirley Browning of Benton, Ark.; brother-in-law, Bob Plaughter of Joliet, Ill.; and nephew, Vance Griffin of Greenbrier.
Private memorial services will be conducted in Arkansas at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be given to Western Avenue Baptist Church.

James J. Jones, 90, of Connersville, died Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2013, at Heritage House of Connersville.
Jim was a native of Gans, Oklahoma, born February 4, 1923 to James M. and Goldie V. Curry Jones. He attended school in Gans and was employed as an assistant leader with the Civilian Conservation Corp based in Seiad Valley, California. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. On August 12, 1944, he was married in Little Rock, Arkansas to the former Betty Sue Browning. His working career was spent with Amoco Chemical. Jim was a member of the Western Avenue Baptist Church, Connersville and the Free and Accepted Masons in Arkansas. He was an avid outdoorsman and traveled to Colorado each year to hunt elk and fish for trout.
Jim is survived by his wife of over 68 years, "Susie"; his daughter and son-in-law: Linda Girot and James, Sr, of Connersville; three grandsons and their wives: James L. Girot, Jr. and Angie of Connersville; David and Christine Girot of Fishers; Daniel Girot of Connersville; four great-grandchildren: Jimmy Girot III, Samantha, Connor and Sarah Girot; his sister: Magoline Dobbs and her husband, John of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers: John Paul and Herbert Jones.
Private memorial services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Alzheimer Unit, 281 South CR 200E, Connersville.
