Jean Moore Cook, 86, of Douglas, Georgia, formally of Little Rock, left this world on September 2, 2014, to join her husband John Milton Jr. and son, John III, in her new home. She will also be joined by her granddaughter, Heather Cook Cater, who was killed a short thirty-six hours later by a hit and run driver.

Jean was born in Des Arc, Arkansas on April 28th, 1928, to the late Mac and Zettie Mae Moore. She grew up and raised her children in Little Rock. She loved to fish and play bingo and was always talking about the one that got away. She also loved her grandkids and would always have at least one or two with her at all times. They were her life, as they grew up it was really hard for her to let them go. She will be broken hearted to hear about Heather, but will join her hand as they enter into heaven.

She will also be joining in death, her sisters, Wanita (Charles) Johnson, Mable (Scoot) McClure and Wanda Brown; brothers, Luther (Helen) Moore and Claude Moore; sons-in law, Paul Carroll and Steven Smirl.

She is survived by her children, Johnny (Marsha) Cook, Saundra Carroll, Deborah Smirl, Sherri (Phil) Singleton and Kenneth Cook; grandchildren, Daniel, Paul David and Sarah Carroll, Trina Cook and Brian (Mandy) Smirl, Christy Wyles and Allen Singleton, Lauren (Corey) Hester, Meghan Cook and Layton Cater (Heather’s husband); great-grandchildren, Natalie Carroll, Bailey Bryles, Brian and John- Kaden Smirl, Catilyn and Logan Wyles, Ella Rose and James Braylon Hester; sister, Ruth Ford and brother, Bo (Florence) Moore.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home on Thursday, followed by burial at 1:00 p.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Missionary Baptist Seminary or St. Jude’s Hospital.
