Marvin Kenneth "Ken" Cook, age 83, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2016 at the Little Rock VA Palliative Care Unit. He was born on September 23, 1932 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Ernest and Amanda Lucille Cook.
Ken had been ill for several months prior to his death, but at the time of his passing he was surrounded by his loving family. He was a highly decorated career military man who served his country with honor as a WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veteran. He died as he lived, with honor and dignity. He was a Master Mason who rose to the 33rd degree and was past Master of his Lodge. He also spent many years as a Shriner. He was an entrepreneur who was a building contractor, real estate broker and a car lot owner, to name a few. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Dorothy J. Cook, his brother Jerry and his sister Patricia Dean.
He is survived by his wife Valerie, two sons, Jerry (Beth) Cook of Jacksonville and David (Patricia) Cook of Biloxi, MS, his older brother Ernest (Nadine) Cook of Heber Springs; Valerie's children Teri Nugent of Scottsdale, AZ, Linda Fry of Hot Springs, VA, Cindy Wesley of Mobile, AL. and Jeff Wesley of Mobile, AL. Ken had six grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Jeffery, Joey Cook, Breanna Wesley, and Dylan Stephenson and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Little Rock VA Palliative Care Unit on 6E or to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
