Russel Livingston Hoggard, 90, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the VA hospital in Little Rock.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 69+ years, Marthell (O'Quinn) Hoggard; sons, Raymond, Lonnie, and Dennis of Jacksonville; a daughter, Catherine Eckelkamp of Little Rock; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends from Bayou Meto Baptist Church where he was a long-time active member.
Russel was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lourinda Hoggard; 8 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Mr. Hoggard was a decorated WWII combat veteran and was very proud to have participated in the D-Day Invasion at Normandy on June 6th. After serving in the military, he worked in the electrical department at the VA hospital.
In latter years, he enjoyed a little traveling, a lot of story-telling and his little dog Betsy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 9th, 2013, at Bayou Meto Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Vilonia Cemetery in Vilonia. Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Huson Funeral Home at 7700 Hwy. 107, Sherwood.
