Dr. Tom was the doctor for the Holland area for nearly 50 years. The following is a transcription of his obituary from the Arkansas Gazette.
DR. JOHN T. MABRY OF FAULKNER COUNTY DIES
Conway, May 30
Dr. John Thomas Mabry, aged 70, of the Holland Community, 16 miles northeast of here, died at a hospital here Tuesday. He suffered a coronary occulsion while at work in his garden early Monday and was removed to the hospital last night. Born in the Happy Hollow Community, he was a life-long resident of Faulkner County, where he practiced medicine 46 years. He was educated at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine.
He was a member of the Faulkner County Medical Society, the Masonic Lodge, and Methodist Church.
Dr. Mabry served as a member of the Faulkner County Selective Service Board during World War II. The Faulkner Board was one of the few in Arkansas which remained intact throughout the war period.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dora Garrett Mabry; three sisters, Mrs. W. P. Harrod, Mrs. W. H. Bass, and Miss Rena Mabry, and a brother, G. B. Mabry, all of Vilonia.
Services will be held at the Oakland Methodist Church at 3 p. m. Wednesday by Rev. James W. Hendrickson of Conway. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, directed by Pence Funeral Home.
