December 8, 1904 - August 15, 1974
Mr. Wiley Mack Bass, Sr., 69, of 502 Poplar St., Smackover, died Thursday morning in a Camden hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Young's Chapel with the Rev. Jon Burton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ray Wells. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery near Smackover under the direction of Young's. Mr. Bass was born Dec. 8, 1904 in Columbia, Miss., and was the son of Bill and Letha Isles Bass. He was a retired oil field worker and a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include three sons, Wiley Mack Bass, Jr., of Smackover, James C. Bass and Walter E. Bass, both of El Dorado; two brothers, W. R. "Bill" Bass of Shelbyville, Tex., and Cassey Bass of Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. Lee B. Cates of El Dorado, Mrs. Letha Cameron of Homer, La., Mrs. Edna Galtin of Alexandria, La., and Mrs. J. A. Wells of Columbia; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. (El Dorado News-Times - August 16, 1974)
