Robert “Bob” Hall slipped quietly into Heaven Friday morning, March 1, 2013 at the age of 88. Born December 28, 1924 in Springhill (Faulkner County) to the late Robert Lee and Grace Gately Hall. Mr. Hall was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Earsel, and Dewitt Hall and two sisters: Oma Hall Love and Ollie Hall Garrett and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Jean Lyons.
After serving in the United States Navy in World War II, he returned to Conway to train as a mechanic working for Steel Chevrolet and later opening Bob and Bill's Auto Service with his friend Bill Starkey. He retired to the farm to raise cattle and his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Carlene Sims Hall; one son, Ronnie (Glenda) Hall of Conway, and two daughters, Jeannie (Danny) Lyons of Russellville, and Susie (Dan) Duren of Yellville.
His life was blessed by nine grandchildren who were in turn blessed by his love and attention. David (Allisha) Hall and Rhonda (Barry) Zellner of Greenbrier; Kathryn (Tony) Weaver of Conway; Sam (Lauren) Hall and Emily (Daniel) Lunney of Fort Smith; Ellen (Nate) Harrison of Maumelle; Hall Lyons of Russellville; Amanda (Dylan) Johnston of Bryant and Hunter Duren of Yellville; plus 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was a member and deacon of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier (501-679-2575), with Bro. Ed Stephenson officiating. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Interment will be in Springhill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Hall, Hunter Duren, Talmadge Ryall, Sam Hall, Hall Lyons, and Dwight Love. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Mills, Bill Starkey, and the other members of Bob's Sunday School Class at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.
