Verle Juanita (Stacks) Acre departed on her heavenly journey on July 20, 2010, at 87 years of age.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Evans Acre; and her parents, James W. and Neston (Price) Stacks.
Mother was always proud of her Cherokee Indian ancestry through her father’s lineage.
She was the baby of the family and she was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Benjamin Stacks, Allie (Stacks) Henderson, Porter Stacks, Douglas Stacks, Hazel (Stacks) Wiedower, Syble (Stacks) Wiedower and Jessie (Stacks) Coney.
She is survived by her four children, Margaret Pearson (Jerry), Bob Acre (Margaret), Russell Acre (Anita) and Paul Acre (Donna).
She is also survived by grandchildren, Richie Pearson, Brett Acre, Bartt Acre, Jonathan Acre and Matthew Acre and their families and Haley, Holly and Hanna Acre.
She is survived by great-grandchildren, Mason and Alex Pearson, Branden, Jacob and Katie Acre, Gracey, Addi and Emi Acre, and Blaine Acre and Aubree Acre.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Clara (Acre) Montgomery, Rose Lea (Acre) Stacks and Betty (Acre) Hammil.
She is survived by a many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, her family in Christ, her dear friends at the Conway Autumn Manor and her little dog “Sassy,” who gave her so much companionship after the loss of our dad.
Mother and daddy were dairy farmers for almost 20 years and retired.
Then they opened the Frostee Acre Drive-in and Restaurant in Greenbrier and retired again.
Daddy began fishing and raising beef cattle and mother worked for the Kimberly-Clark manufacturing plant in Conway and retired in 1975.
She was active in the Republican Party all her adult life.
She was known and loved by her fellow Faulkner County Republicans and loved by her Democrat friends as well.
Mother was a founding member of the Greenbrier Church of Christ dating back to 1949.
She was a follower of Jesus Christ her savior and was comforted knowing that she was a sinner saved by the grace of God.
In her final months she told her children that she was ready to go be with the Lord.
She fought the good fight, she kept the faith and she finished the course.
She knew there was a better “Home” prepared for her and she wanted to go there.
We want to express our sincere thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Conway Regional Hospital for your kindness, tender care and loving support given to mother and to the family members, even up to 9:45 p.m. Tuesday July 20, 2010, when mother valiantly left this life.
To the Doctors and staff in Little Rock and Conway who have treated mom over the last several years, we thank you.
You prolonged mother’s life and you gave her quality of life.
Mother died a happy lady, and she often told her children that she had no regrets; she said that life here on earth had been good to her.
We shall see you again one day our dear mother.
The family will receive friends at the Greenbrier Church of Christ on Saturday from 11-12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at the church building at 1 p.m. The casket will be open only during the visitation.
Burial will follow at the Republican Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Richie Pearson, Brett and Bartt Acre, Jonathan Acre, granddaughter, Haley Acre and nephew Justin Acre.
Honorary casket bearers are mother’s great-grandchildren, Branden, Jacob, Katie, Gracey, Emi and Addi Acre; Mason and Alex Pearson; Blaine and Aubree Acre and her nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to the Southern Christian Home in Morrilton or the Children’s Home of Paragould.
Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
