James E. (Jimmy) Dickens of Elkhart, Texas died Feb. 1 at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1943 in Greenbrier to Eldon and Juanita Dickens Kirkland.

He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father “Pete” Kirkland, an infant daughter at birth, a sister, Donna Fason, and a niece Paula Brannon.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Bob Mitchell Construction until his health forced him to retire.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Fran (Taylor) Dickens; three children Jamie Briscoe of Conway, James Paul Dickens and Lyn Beasley (Bryan), both of Cabot; three stepsons, Phillip (Sequoia) Sanders of Elkhart, Texas, Rick (Patti) Reed and Jim (Lee Ann) Reed of Texas; nine grandchildren, Ashley Edwards of Japan, Spencer Briscoe of Conway, Chase and Austin Beasley of Cabot, Corbin and Kelsie Pratt, Dalton and Kaylie Sanders all of Elkhart, Texas, Jerry Lynn Reed of Texas, and sisters Anne (Joe) Hartsfield of Greenbrier, Debbie West of Conway, and Diane (James) Firestone of Vilonia.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church 61 Green Valley Drive, Greenbrier, Ark., 72058.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Building Fund.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Elkhart, Texas arrangements through Bailey and Foster Funeral Home in Palestine, Texas.
