J.J. Truitt, better known as Jerry, died at his home in the Word community on May 1st at the age of 78 years. He was quite widely known in the northwest part of the county. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Scoggins Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made in the Word Cemetery. Surviving him are two sons, Enoch and James Truitt and Mrs. Cora Heaslet of Peru, Kan. He was an old Confederate soldier and had lived in Arkansas for nearly 72 years.
