SPRINGDALE — Helen Ruby Hanrahan, 91, a longtime resident of Springdale passed away June 17, 2011, at the Jefferson County Regional Hospital in Pine Bluff, Ark. Helen was born Sept. 30, 1919, in the White Oak community of western Washington County to Thomas Harvey and Angie Rona (Alexander) Parker. She was the youngest of their 10 children.

Helen married Melvin C. Hellyer in 1934 and gave birth to William Cecil and Maxine Helen Hellyer. She also adopted Melvin's two daughters, Faye Kathryn and Esther Lee Hellyer. Later in her life after Melvin's untimely death, she married Joseph J. Hanrahan. For many years Helen was a faithful and reliable employee at Jackson's Cafe, which was located on the southern fringe of Springdale. Throughout her life, her family was always the focal point of her life. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and being in a crowd of happy people. Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springdale.

Helen was preceded in death by five sisters; four brothers; husbands Melvin C. Hellyer and Joseph J. Hanrahan; and daughters, Faye K. Flaucher, Esther L Wells and Maxine H. Herring.

She is survived by her son, W. Cecil Hellyer of Milliken, Colo.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale with Pastor Joe Dorman officiating. Internment will be at White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, online guest book at www.heritageofnwa.com.
