FAYETTEVILLE — Bertha Mae Whitfield, 77, of Fayetteville died Jan. 12, 2008, at Springdale. She was born Sept. 18, 1930, in White Oak community to Edward and Lottie Mae Ferguson Stacks.

She was a member of Thomas Lakeview Baptist Church and had worked for Baldwin Piano Co. and the Malco Theaters. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Whitfield, on Jan. 12, 2007, and one son, Curtis Whitfield.

Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Doss of Fayetteville; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Whitfield of Fayetteville; two brothers, Charles Stacks of Cane Hill and Lloyd Stacks of Tyler, Texas; one sister, Dora Newby of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Jeremy Doss of Anaheim, Calif., Sammie Dufour of Rogers and Robert Whitfield of Fayetteville; two great-grandsons, Justice and Garrison Dufour.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home in Springdale with Dale Shepherdson officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Howard Ferguson, Mike Ferguson, Chalen Newby, Darwin Newby, Harold Stacks and Jerry Stacks.
