SPRINGDALE — Velma Jane Hutchinson Miller Jones, 81, of Springdale died June 4, 2000. She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Fayetteville to Jonathan Osmar and Lenora Elisabeth Ballou Hutchinson. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Springdale, a homemaker and a life resident of Benton and Washington counties. She attended Fayetteville public schools and had been employed at area nursing homes and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Melvin Rex Miller, in 1970, and James Jones, in 1989.
Survivors include six sons, Gene Miller of Tacoma, Wash., Edward Miller of Salem, Ore., Billy Miller of Pearland, Texas, Don Miller of Rogers, Gary Miller of Sutherlin, Ore., and Bob Jones of Yantic, Conn.; five daughters Betty Parrish of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Weaver of Martin, Texas, Connie Howell of Texline, Texas, Vickie Lemons of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Barbara Beale of Fayetteville; one brother, Jack Hutchinson of Springdale; two sisters, Wanda Counts of Springdale and Virginia Burton of Fayetteville; 28 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville with the Rev. Norman Hamby officiating.
Arrangements are by Backstrom- Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Center.
