August 5, 1895 - June 26, 1975
Gurther Steele Carter, aged 79, of Chidester (Ouachita County), died Thursday. He was a member of Timothy United Methodist Church, a retired employee of Camden Furniture Co. and a World War I veteran. Survivors include four sons, Glendon T. Carter of Chidester, Obie W. Carter of Missouri, Edward A. Carter of North Carolina and Jimmy T. Carter of California, a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette C. Vick of Chidester; two sisters, Mrs. Gertie Buckley and Mrs. Thelma Recaulley, both of Louisiana, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Burial will be at Crain Cemetery by Camden Funeral Service. (Arkansas Gazette - June 28, 1975)
