Mar 28,1868-Feb 28,1946
Virgil Z. Martin, age 77 years and 11 months, died Thursday night, February 28, at the home of his son, Howard R. Martin which was his home for many years, as his wife preceded him in death long, long ago. Funeral services was conducted at 2:30 p.m. the following day by Rev. Harrison Collins at the Cove school house and interment was in the cemetery nearby, with the Bruce Brashears Undertaking Co. in charge of the arrangements. The deceased was born in Indiana March 28, 1868. He migrated to Kansas at the age of 17, and resided there until 1910 when he came to Arkansas and lived until his demise. Farming and stock raising was his life work. He is survived by the one son; seven grandchildren; Bessie and Ruth of the home, James with the armed forces in Japan, Elmer in an army camp in Virginia, Orville, Milburn and Mrs. Denver Hooper who reside here. Also four great-great-grandchildren, and all were at the funeral except James and Elmer.
